Rent check was made with moderate increase at DAS starting 1.1.2018
DAS increases the rents for the year 2018 on average by 2%. The increase enables long-term property maintenance and planned yearly renovations. The increase is modest considering the fact that since 2001 -according to the index building comparison made by Kiinteistöliitto (Finnish Property union) - the maintenance costs for apartment buildings in Rovaniemi have been increasing yearly by 2,2%, while 1,7% on average nationally. There will be no other increases on the separate payments.

DAS offers different types and sizes of apartments in four different housing areas. Depending on the type of the apartment the rents can vary significantly. The most affordable living costs are in the two- or three-person shared apartments, and the most expensive costs are in the studios of the Rantavitikka campus area. The average rent per square meter in all of the foundation’s apartments is 10,80 €/sqm/month in 2018, and the variation depending on the area/building is between 9,60 – 13,89 €/sqm/month. The rent includes internet connection, a share of water and electricity, and the sauna and laundry turns.

We will keep the emphasis on the yearly renovations and the Rantavitikka bathroom renovation project that has lasted for 7 years will finally be completed in 2018 as the last 42 bathrooms will be renovated. During the year 2018, we will create a concept for “pleasantness renovations” and plan out the executing schedule for each building. The renovations, aiming to enhance and update the pleasantness of buildings, will begin in 2019 and we are aiming to fulfill the students’ demands for both high-quality and affordable homes.

The foundation continues planning the new building in the campus area, in Riihipellonpuisto. The planning project is going ahead and the construction plan proposal will be handled by the city council in the meeting on December 11th, 2017. Upon completion in 2019, the new apartment building will include 103 new studio apartments for students in an 8-floor high wooden apartment building.

Have a pleasant autumn!
