Ylikorvantie 28 town plan progresses

The Domus Arctica Foundation's construction project on Ylikorvantie is progressing. On October 14, 2025, the city initiated a change to the town plan for block 5033, where three of the foundation's apartment buildings and an old office building are located. The foundation's goal is to add 4,500 square meters of building rights to the old office site in the block, which would bring the total building rights for the site to approximately 5,000 square meters. The plan would allow for the construction of a 12-story building with approximately 110 apartments on the site. 

There is a great need for affordable student housing in Rovaniemi. The Rantavitikka area is popular with students and is home to the campus area formed by Lapland's universities and REDU. The location of the foundation's new apartment buildings and the number of apartments are key factors in improving the living experience and ensuring that the apartments are affordable.
