Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Kesä on DASilla vuoden kiireisintä aikaa. Saamme paljon yhteydenottoja koskien asuntojen saatavuutta ja asuntohakemuksen tilannetta. Kokosimme vastauksia useimmin kysyttyihin kysymyksiin.
How are tenants selected?
All tenant selections are based on housing applications, meaning that all applicants must complete the electronic housing application form on our website. We assess the reasons for each applicant’s housing need and the urgency of their situation. Applicants with the most urgent housing needs are given priority. Therefore, the possibility of receiving an apartment also depends on the situation of other applicants applying for the same apartment.
Since we have received interest subsidy for building affordable rental apartments, we also take into account the applicant’s income level and assets in accordance with the regulations for ARA apartments.
What is my position in the housing queue?
DAS does not have housing queues, so you will not receive a queue number nor be able to check your position. All apartments are allocated based on applicants’ housing needs and urgency.
I have submitted an application, but I haven’t received any response?
We do not reply personally to all applicants. However, we will contact you by email if we are able to offer you an apartment. If you selected the option "I would like to receive a copy of the application by email " at the end of the application form before submitting it, you will receive a copy of your application.
How can I edit/cancel my application?
If you selected the option “I want a copy of my application sent to my email” on the form before submitting your application, you will receive an email containing the details of your application and a link that allows you to edit it. The application is valid for three months. Our system will automatically send you a text message when your application is about to expire, and by renewing it according to the instructions in the message, your application will remain valid. If you have already secured housing elsewhere and no longer need housing from DAS, you can delete your housing application via the link mentioned above. This helps speed up our housing allocation process.
What if I don’t have the required attachments when applying?
You can still apply for housing! Attachments such as an internship agreement or proof of student status will be checked once we have sent you a housing offer. If you wish to accept the offered apartment, send us a confirmation email (dasaspa@das.fi) with the required attachments.
Note! If you are underage, you must provide a parental consent form. If both guardians are listed in the application, we will require the signatures of both.
We recommend submitting your housing application as soon as you know you will need housing, even if you do not yet have the required attachments. This allows us to familiarize ourselves with your situation in advance.
Does visiting the DAS office or calling speed up the process?
Visiting our office or calling does not affect your chances of getting an apartment, since all apartments are allocated based on the information provided in the application, taking into account the situation of all applicants. During busy periods, you may also need to wait in the phone queue. If you wish to update your information or provide additional details about your housing needs, please update your housing application directly by editing it online.
How can I improve my chances of getting an apartment?
In addition to the applicant situation, your chances also depend on the number of available apartments. If you have applied only for a specific type or size of apartment in a specific location, you may need to wait longer until such an apartment becomes available. If you need an apartment quickly, we recommend applying for a wide range of apartment types and locations.
When is it easiest to get an apartment?
The number of applicants and available apartments varies by season. In spring and early summer, more apartments become available relative to demand than at other times of the year. In August and September, the number of applicants is at its peak, and all available apartments are rented out quickly. If you can schedule your move for later in autumn (October–November) or in spring, your chances of getting an apartment from us may be better.
